2008 CRC Fullbore Prone Rifle State Championship Match National Rifle Association Registered Tournament Sponsored by: Colorado Rifle Club, Inc. www.crci.org DATE: Friday August 29, 2008 through Wednesday September 3, 2008. Firing will begin at 8:00 AM MDT each day. LOCATION: Colorado Rifle Club Rifle Range, 76099 East 96th Avenue, Byers, CO 80103. Byers is about 45 miles east of Denver on I-70. The range is located about 8 miles east of Byers on U. S. 36, then about 9 miles north on Leader Road (52N). Then one mile west on 96th Ave. to the range gate, then one mile north to the ranges. (See map on information sheet or go to the club web site at www.crci.org). RULES: The NRA Fullbore Rifles will be in effect for this competition. ELIGIBILITY: Competition is open to all NRA individual members and junior competitors who may be either an individual member and/or a member of an organization affiliated with the NRA and to International Competitors who are members in good standing of their respective National Shooting Federations. International Teams and Individuals are invited. Competitors may be required to present their current NRA Membership Card and/or classification card. ENTRIES: Entries are limited to 80 shooters per day. Advanced entry is requested. Post entries will be accepted provided no special squadding or relays are required. Copies will be available at the range or please go the CRC web site and print a copy. FIRING STARTS: At 8:00 AM Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) each day. CLASSIFICATION: This is a classified match and will be conducted using the current NRA National Fullbore Prone Rifle classification system in all matches. Any individual or team may elect, before firing, to compete in a higher classification that the one in which classified. Such individual or team must fire in the higher class throughout the tournament. International competitors without NRA USA classification will compete in the highest classification. There will be awards for each class unless there are fewer than 3 entered in that class in which case those entries may be combined into the next higher class. Unclassified competitor will compete as Masters. CATEGORIES: Match and classification categories will be established and awards given in the Civilian, Service, Junior, Grand Senior, Senior and Woman categories (provided that there are at least 5 entries in each category). AMMUNITION; Individuals must provide their own ammunition as specified in rule 3.17. All ammunition is subject to testing and the bullet weight for the .308/7.62 must be less than 156 grains and the bullet weight for .223/5.56 must be less than 81 grains. RIFLES: Division A – A rifle chambered for use with the unmodified .308/7.62mm NATO or .308 Winchester cartridges with metallic sights. Any safe trigger will be acceptable. Division B – A rifle chambered for use with the unmodified .223/5.56mm NATO or .223 Remington cartridges with metallic sights. Any safe trigger will be acceptable. Division F – F Class. All other rifles not falling under Division A or B. TARGETS: 300 yards – MR63; 500 yards – MR65; 600 yards – MR1; NRA long-range (LR) for 900 and 1,000 yards. PRACTICE: The range will be available starting at 8:00 (MDT) on Friday August 29, 2008 and Wednesday September 3, 2008 for practice. DETAIL DUTIES: Competitors will score and operate (mark) targets with Colorado Rifle Club members performing match duties as assigned. Competitors may provide hired target pullers only with the approval of the Match Director and will remain responsible for that target detail. Competitors will score in all matches. Failure to serve your assigned detail (firing, scoring and target duties) may result in disqualification from that portion of the match. Scoring System A from rule 14.18 will be used. SAFETY: Safety is paramount. Each shooter must provide eye and ear protection. Empty Chamber Indicators (ECI) must be used and may be purchased at the range for $1 each. Bolts cannot be closed until the rifle is shouldered and pointed towards the target. CHALLENGES: A $1.00 fee will be charged for each challenge and will be returned if the challenge is sustained. LUNCH: Competitors are encouraged to bring food and water to the range. There will be a 45 minute lunch break each day, time to be announced by the Chief Range Officer BAR B Q: There will be a Bar B Q dinner served Saturday afternoon about an hour after shooting is completed. The dinner is included in the entry fees. CAMPING: Overnight, self contained camping is available on the range. Camper pads with electric hook ups are available for a fee of $5 per night. Estimate the number of days that electric hook ups will be used and include that amount with your entry fee. Refunds will be made upon request for earlier than estimated departure. There is no charge for camping on the range in locations where electric hook ups are not available. Water is available at the caretaker house located on the range facility. The range will be open by noon (12:00 MDT) on Thursday August 28, 2008 for people desiring to spend the night before the organized practice.
MATCH 1: 300, 500, 600 and 900 - Individual Matches Saturday August 30, 2008 Firing at 300, 500 and 600 yards pair firing (two on the mound). Two (2) convertible sighters and 10 shots for record at each yard line. Relay 1 will be the shooter on the right; Relay 2 will be the shooter on the left. Each shooter will be expected to fire their next shot within 45 seconds after the previous score is announced and accepted. Then at 900 yards, 2 convertible sighters and 15 shots for record, 22 minute time limit. Sting firing. Then at 1,000 yards, 2 convertible sighters and 15 shots for record, 22 minute time limit. Sting firing. MATCH 3: 300, 500, 600 and 1000 yard - Individual Matches Monday September 1, 2008 Firing at 300, 500 and 600 yards pair firing (two on the mound). Two (2) convertible sighters and 10 shots for record at each yard line. Relay 1 will be the shooter on the right; Relay 2 will be the shooter on the left. Then at 1,000 yards, 2 convertible sighters and 15 shots for record, 22 minute time limit. Sting firing. MATCH 4 An aggregate of matches 1, 2 and 3. The match winner and Colorado State Fullbore Rifle Prone Champion must fire in Division A.
MATCH 5: Four Person Team match Tuesday September 2, 2008 A team consists of four firing members, a team captain and coach who may be firing members. Each firing member firing two (2) convertible sighting shots and 10 shots for record at 300, 600 yards. Two (2) convertible sighters and 15 shots for record at 900 and 1,000 yards. Time limit at the short ranges will be 27 minutes team time, and at the long ranges 54 minutes team time. All competitors are encouraged to participate in the team matches. Every effort will be made to insure that each competitor has the opportunity to shoot on a team. The team times are before and after the pit changes.
