RULES: The current Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Competition Rules will govern the conduct of this match.

CLASSIFICATION AND CATEGORIES: There will be no classifications and categories in this match.

AWARD SCHEDULE: There will be a Match Winner, first place, second place and third place experienced and new shooter awards. These awards are the CRC commemorative John C. Garand Match clear glass coffee mugs. They are the same as the mugs awarded in 2007 but with the date changed to 2008. At the last Garand Match of 2003, the competitors present at the awards ceremony voted overwhelmingly to limit a competitor to winning one mug each year. Competitors must be present at the awards ceremony at the end of each match to receive an award.

The Colorado State Shooting Association (http://www.cssa.org) has donated a CSSA T-shirt to be awarded at each match this year. The highest scoring competitor firing a M1 Garand or a M1941 Johnson will receive a CMP 2007 John C. Garand Match T-shirt. The highest firing competitor firing a Springfield, Krag or Enfield will receive a CMP 2007 Springfield Match T-Shirt. The highest firing competitor firing a Carbine will receive a CMP 2007 Carbine Match T-Shirt. The CMP had donated a total of 18 CMP 2007 Matches T-shirts to be awarded this year. Three, four or five of these T-shirts will be awarded to the next highest competitors in each match, depending on the number of competitors. Competitors must be present at the awards ceremony at the end of each match to receive a special award.

The CMP has authorized the awarding of Gold, Silver and Bronze pins of the same design as the medals awarded at the National John C. Garand Match. The CMP has established guidelines for local matches using the scores for the National Medals. These are: Gold Medal, 279 & up, Silver Medal, 278-271 and Bronze Medal 270-260. The CMP realizes that local conditions (WIND, etc.) can cause scores to be lower that at Camp Perry. Therefore CRC will use these scores as guidelines with a goal of awarding two Gold pins, four Silver pins and six Bronze pins at each match, without regard to the type of rifle fired or new/experienced shooter status. The number of competitors at each match will also be a determining factor in the number of pins awarded. Competitors must be present at the awards ceremony at the end of each match to receive a pin.

As the 100 yard target is a scaled reduction of the 200 yard target, awards will be determined without consideration of the distance at which competitors fired. The CMP provides Certificates of Competition which will be presented to all competitors desiring them after the end of the awards ceremony. The results bulletin will be emailed immediately after the match to all competitors who have entered the electronic age. The CMP Certificate of Competition can be snail mailed to competitors not staying for the awards ceremony, who so request, along with a paper copy of the results bulletin.

CMP RIFLE PURCHASE ELIGIBILITY; The CMP Certificate of Competition in one of these John C. Garand match meets the CMP requirement for proof of marksmanship participation for purchasing rifles from the CMP. Go to http://www.odcmp.com/ or call 888-267-0796 for details.

SAFETY: Safety is paramount. Each shooter must provide eye and ear protection. Open bolt indicators must be used and may be borrowed for use at the match or purchased for $1 each.

MINI-CLINIC: A short mini-clinic will be held to familiarize new shooters with safety, the match procedures and the operation of the M1 Garand rifle.

DISTANCES TO BE FIRED: The CRC Schuetzen range permits competitors to fire at either 100 yards or 200 yards at the same time during the match. Each competitor must decide which distance he/she wants to fire. It is recommended that only experienced competitors choose to fire at 200 yards. They will be issued one target for that distance. They will use that target for the entire match and may keep the target after the match is completed.

Bring two clips or magazines if you have them. Two M1 Garand clips will be available for each competitor to borrow. These M1 clips should be returned to CRC for use in future matches. Persons firing the U. S. Krag rifle must provide their own cal..30-40 ammunition.
